Measuring over 40 feet long, the Rocket Car was made from scrap metal and specially manufactured parts, as this video posted by KQED shows.

To create the steampunk-esque roadster, Best and his team hacked the roof of the vintage Cadillac before getting down to work polishing the bodywork. With all of the panels stripped down, the team began making the huge cones that run the length of the car, almost doubling its dimensions.

While Best was sure to remove all traces of the car’s original shell, he retained the Cadillac’s undercarriage to make sure it could be driven whenever it needed to.

The Rocket Car is sold online as part of the “Boundless Space… The Possibilities of Burning Man” sale. He is joined in the auction by a custom car built by one of the festival’s resident artists, as well as artwork and NFTs.
