BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Health First’s Michael Seeley and entrepreneur Elon Musk don’t share much in common, but in April they both had the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket in sight, the engine blazing before a brilliant full moon.

Only Michael posted a photo of it on Twitter. Mr. Musk saw it and quickly liked it.

At night – and just as often during the day – it can be perched on top of a building with a bird’s-eye view of the Kennedy Space Center. His superb eye and skill have caught the attention of National Geographic, where he contributes.

His photograph of the SpaceX Crew Dragon launch in May 2020 was featured in the magazine’s “2020 Photos of the Year” issue: CLICK HERE to see it for yourself.

His first photograph for the publisher appeared in the November 2016 issue. It was also a captured SpaceX launch that summer – only the second time SpaceX has landed a booster at Cape Canaveral.

“I tell people all the time that I will never forget those sonic booms, and hearing the words ‘The Falcon has landed’ on the webcast was amazing.”

Michael recently reposted photos of a Falcon Heavy launch in 2019 when two boosters landed at Cape Canaveral. The fact that Musk “liked” them may have contributed to his 3.5 million views.

“We see history here, and the beauty around us is endless and incredible, which is why I am a constant advocate of the Space Coast,” said Michael. “Every photo I post I consider a love letter to Brevard County.”

As President of the Foundation, Michael works to support the services of Health First, including the heart center, trauma center and emergency departments of Health First hospitals, as well as specialized programs for cancer, the diabetes and other conditions.

All of this helps Health First achieve its mission of improving well-being and health in Brevard. Michael and his team see firsthand the needs of the community.

By raising and donating over $ 180 million, and in addition to partners such as the Brevard Health Alliance, Brevard Public Schools, Boys & Girls Club and others, Health First has been able to provide care without compensation, which regardless of someone’s ability to pay.

Her community work and her photography probably go together best at Melbourne Town Hall. There, four large panoramic photos of sunsets over Lake Washington decorate the water department.

“We are fortunate to live on the Space Coast and be a part of this history; it’s just a way of life here, ”said Michael. “It still puzzles me that the traffic doesn’t completely stop every time there is a launch. “
