Pharrell williams spends quality time with his family.
Over the weekend, the Grammy-winning producer shared a rare family photo with his wife, Helen Lasichanh, and their 12-year-old son, Ayer rocket. In her Instagram caption, Williams wrote “Lotus Enzymes,†in reference to a popular ingredient in her Humanrace skin care line. The family and a group of friends are currently on vacation in Egypt.
Pharrell and Lasichanh welcomed Rocket together in 2008, later tying the knot in 2013. While the couple rarely post pictures of themselves together or with their children, the producer dedicated the song “Rocket’s Theme” to their son, from the soundtrack of the 2010s Despicable Me.
In 2014, Williams explained the meaning of Rocket’s name during an interview with Oprah Winfrey.
“Metaphorically it was because of Stevie Wonder “Love of the rocket”, Elton John’s “Rocket man”, and At Herbie Hancock “Rocket,†he said at the time. “All of my favorite musicians.”
He went on to say, “In the same way that the Indians named their children after a force or an animal or an element, we named it after an artificial machine that was supposed to go up, intended to go up.
Although Pharrell tends to keep his family life private, Rocket has made a few recent appearances on his father’s Instagram, most recently photobombing a boomerang last week, which was simply captioned “Rocket’s Father” . The couple had previously enjoyed a father-son skateboarding moment, sharing a photo of them atop a halfpipe, under which Williams wrote, “For my grinder.”
Williams and Lasichanh too welcomed a group of triplets in January 2017. “Pharrell, Helen and Rocket Williams have hosted triplets. The family is happy and healthy! his representative said PEOPLE at the time.
