Reo Hatate on Celtic attitude Ange Postecoglou pierced him as he reflected on his early life in Glasgow
Reo Hatate has a “fearless” attitude forced into him by Ange Postecoglou – and he loves it.
The 25-year-old shared the message his manager has been sending since joining Celtic in January.
Still adapting to life and football in this country, the Japanese international feels he is progressing.
Postecoglou is a big part of this process and the midfielder appreciates his support.
The new signing has enjoyed a sparkling start to life at Celtic Park but hasn’t reached the same heights recently.
Hatate told Japanese media: “In the beginning, I felt that I was able to associate myself in a very good way with results, but it was not so easy.
“In the meantime, there have been various difficulties in terms of conditions, etc.
“I think it’s been two months with good and bad things.
“Under my current coach, I’m really being told to find a space, or find a position where I can be free. I’m very aware of that.
“First of all, the environment is different from Japan, and the ground conditions and climate are different, so it took a long time to get used to it.
“The manager tells me to play in such a role without fear of mistakes, and it took me a long time to get used to the environment.
“I think that support has been great, so thanks to the team. I don’t know, but I think I’m gradually getting used to it.”
