Who is Nambi Narayanan? | Trade standard
Nambi Narayanan is an aerospace engineer who previously worked with the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO). He came into the limelight in 1994 when he was arrested on bogus espionage charges. Narayanan was later awarded compensation of Rs 1.3 crore by the Kerala government. Recognizing his contribution to the development of rocket science in India, the Indian government awarded Narayanan the country’s third highest civilian honour, Padma Bhushan, in 2019.
In 1969, Narayanan won a prestigious NASA scholarship that helped him work his way to Princeton University, where he gained expertise in chemical rocket propulsion. On his return to India, where solid engines were common, he introduced liquid propellant engines.
